acousmatic (adj)

Acousmatic sound is sound one hears without seeing an originating cause.

For example:

Or any time you turn off the theme song on your favorite TV show and watch the opening sequence.  It reminds me you how much your eyes and ears are connected, and the degree to which your brain is a prediction engine, filling in what it expects to see.
